Nottingham Forest have potentially been dealt a fresh injury blow as Samba Sow was forced off before the hour mark in their clash with Barnsley.
The midfielder looked to have suffered an ankle problem at the City Ground and he was substituted in the second half.
Sow went down in the first few minutes against the Tykes. He was able to carry on, but went down again in the second half and was replaced by Fouad Bachirou.
It was only the latter’s third appearance in the Garibaldi after signing in the summer, as he has struggled with his own injury problems this term.
The Reds have been short on numbers in the centre of the pitch, with Harry Arter, Ryan Yates and Jack Colback all sidelined.
They are close to bringing in Manchester United youngster James Garner, however, ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Sow’s time with the Reds has been hampered by injury troubles, with a knee problem having previously kept him out of action.
Forest were also without Scott McKenna for this afternoon’s match, with the defender also understood to be struggling with a slight injury.
Yates (calf) could return for the trip to Wycombe Wanderers in a week’s time, while Colback (ankle) did his first bit of training this week and Arter may be back involved next week - although the latter has been linked with a move away.
