Zach Clough could be set for a Nottingham Forest exit, three years after he last played for the club.
The attacker has not been part of the first-team set-up at the City Ground for some time.
He has already been linked with a switch to Wigan Athletic this month.
And that seems to be moving a step closer, with The Athletic saying the Latics are “working on a deal” to sign the 25-year-old.
Clough joined the Reds in January 2017 from Bolton Wanderers, in a deal worth roughly £2.5m.
But he has struggled to make an impact on the banks of the River Trent, having featured just 31 times for the club.
He has had loan spells with the Trotters and at Rochdale in the last few years, with his last competitive game coming for the latter, back in April 2019.
Since returning from Rochdale, he has been out of the picture at Forest, not being part of the squad under boss Chris Hughton or predecessor Sabri Lamouchi.
He has been linked with moves away before, but with his contract coming to an end this summer, this would be the Reds’ final chance to try to recoup some of the money they spent on him.
