Nottingham Forest duo recognised for impressive performances

Nottingham Forest duo Matty Cash and Brice Samba have been nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for November.

Impressive performances from the pair were at the heart of a good month for the Reds which saw them pick up 10 points from a possible 15.

Cash has caught the eye in the unfamiliar role of right-back, making the position his own and becoming one of the first names on Sabri Lamouchi’s team-sheet.

And Samba has firmly established himself as Forest’s No.1, keeping three successive clean-sheets last month - against Derby County, Bristol City and QPR.

They are up against West Bromwich Albion’s Kyle Bartley, Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen, Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Millwall’s Jed Wallace in the running for the honour, which will be decided by fans’ votes.

Cash has expertly made the switch from midfielder to full-back under Lamouchi and has made 20 appearances so far this season, scoring twice.

He was rewarded with a new long-term contract last week.

Teammate Samba made the move to the City Ground from Caen in the summer and has featured 16 times in the Garibaldi.

Both have been key figures in the Reds’ push up the the table, with Lamouchi’s men currently fourth in the Championship standings ahead of Friday night’s trip to face Millwall.
