Nottingham Forest donate 3,000 food parcels to homeless charity Framework after Reading game postponed

Nottingham Forest donated 3,000 food parcels to the homeless after Saturday's game against Reading was postponed.

The Championship game at the County Ground was postponed less than three hours before kick-off after heavy rain waterlogged the pitch, one of six EFL matches to be called off.

Rather than letting the matchday supplies go to waste, Forest donated food and drink to Nottingham-based charity Framework which aims to help homeless people.

The food parcels contained pies, pasties, sandwiches and more. "Game off but nothing goes to waste," the club tweeted shortly after the postponement was confirmed.

One fan replied: "Well done all at NFFC! A kind gesture that puts a bit of faith back into Human kindness."

Another added: "I know nothing about football but I know a club worthy of its fans when I see one."

The new date for the rearranged fixture will be confirmed "in due course", the clubs have stated.
