Nottingham Forest discover Carabao Cup second round opponents

Nottingham Forest travel to Grimsby Town in the second round of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup.

The tie is due to be played at Blundell Park during the week beginning August 22 as clubs look to make it into the last 32 of the competition. That means the match will take place between Forest's league games against Everton away on August 20 and Tottenham at home on August 28.

It will be the first time Grimsby and Forest have met in a competitive fixture since March 2003, when the teams played out a 2-2 draw.

The second round draw was made on Sky Sports tonight. Other fixtures to look out for include Bolton vs. Aston Villa and Derby vs. West Brom or Sheffield United.

Fifteen teams entered the draw this evening, with Forest joining the 12 other Premier League teams without European football. Championship sides Burnley and Watford also join, along with the 35 first round winners.

The seven teams who qualified for European football this season, including reigning Premier League champions Man City, will enter the competition at the third round stage.
