Nottingham Forest 'destined' for play-offs as former Red tips them to end Derby County's winning run

Nottingham Forest “feel destined for the play-offs”, according to former Red David Prutton.

And the Sky Sports pundit has backed his old team to bring an end to Derby County’s winning run since the Championship’s restart.

It is a big game at Pride Park on Saturday, when the East Midlands rivals will meet - for the battle at the top end of the table as much as for local bragging rights.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are fourth, seven points behind the top two and with the same advantage over the seventh-placed Rams.

Both teams are unbeaten in the three games since the season’s resumption, with Forest picking up seven points from nine and their opponents claiming a maximum return from theirs.

Prutton believes there is a chance both sides will make the top six cut, and has predicted it will be honours even - at 2-2 - this weekend.

“What form Derby are in, and what a man they have in Wayne Rooney,” he said in his column for Sky Sports.

“I think a fair few of us thought they had left it too late to make the play-offs but if you keep winning, you have always got a chance, and that's what they've been doing.

Nottingham Forest feel destined for the play-offs now, but they need to keep their momentum up and you never know if Leeds and West Brom slip.

“This is naturally a huge game for both sides, and I'm going to sit right on the fence and plump for a draw!”
