Nottingham Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro offers positive injury update

Nottingham Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro says he is “almost back” from injury.

The Portuguese has been out of action for more than a month, having last featured in the East Midlands derby victory over Derby County at the start of November.

But Ribeiro says he is close to a comeback from a knee problem, which will come as a welcome boost for head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

Posting a picture on Twitter of himself in action for the Reds, the full-back wrote: “Feeling stronger and almost back with the team.”

Earlier this week, Lamouchi said Tuesday night’s clash with Middlesbrough would come too soon for Ribeiro and fellow absentees Samba Sow and Carl Jenkinson.

But the Frenchman was hoping for positive news for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

“For Yuri, for Samba Sow, it is too early,” Lamouchi had said ahead of facing Boro. “Carl Jenkinson, as well.

“They need a few days.

“We will see for Saturday.”

Ribeiro has made 10 appearances in the Garibaldi since making the move to the City Ground in the summer.

Sow has been sidelined since October with a hamstring problem and Jenkinson has not featured since August due to an ankle injury.
