African Cup of Nations hosts Egypt made sure of victory on the opening day of this year's tournament with a 1-0 win over Tendayi Darikwa's Zimbabwe.
The Nottingham Forest defender played all 90 minutes in his first appearance at a major international tournament as he went head to head with Champions League winner Mo Salah.
But it was a busy night for his goalkeeper, Edmore Sibanda, on what was a truly dominant night for the Egypt at Cairo's International Stadium.
The tournament's opening goal, and the winner on the night, came after waves of intense Egyptian pressure and punished Zimbabwe for trying to hurt Salah's side on the counter attack.
With Darikwa caught out of position, Mahmoud Trezeguet, who plies his trade in Turkey with Kasimpasa, was allowed to shuffle inside and curl the ball into the far corner.
The Nottingham-born defender was tasked with containing Trezeguet all night, which proved to be a tricky task for the 27-year-old.
Zimbabwe, who were rumoured to be planning a boycott of the Group A encounter amid a pay dispute, did have a chance to steal something from the game late on, but the hosts were able to hold on.
