Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa shows how he is making progress after surgery

Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa has taken the first tentative steps on the road to recovery from injury.

The full-back suffered a ruptured ACL on the eve of the new season and is expected to be sidelined for the majority of the campaign, with boss Sabri Lamouchi having said: “We will be missing him for about six months.”

Darikwa recently had surgery on his right knee, and shared an update on his progress after the operation.

Writing on Instagram, he posted a picture of his leg after going under the knife, as well as a couple of videos of himself undergoing some gentle exercises to show how far he has come.

He said: “17 days after surgery on my ACL. Trust the process.”

One video shows Darikwa walking using his right leg to step over some small plastic domes as he walks in a straight line, and the second shows him bending both knees.

The 27-year-old has previously said, via social media: “Sad to be out of action for a while. Will be supporting the boys week in, week out. Thank you for the messages. COYR”

Darikwa made 31 appearances in the Garibaldi last term, but was used sparingly in pre-season after being away with Zimbabwe in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the summer.
