Nottingham Forest defender's message after completing January transfer

Nicholas Ioannou says he is keen to repay the trust of Aris Thessaloniki, following his departure from Nottingham Forest.

The full-back made the move to the Greek side on Friday, joining on loan until the end of the season.

It came just a few months after he had made the switch to the City Ground, having penned a four-year contract from APOEL in September.

GARIBALDI RED: Could Ryan Yates become a "Jordan Henderson type figure" for Forest?

Ioannou told Aris’ official website: "I want to thank the management of Aris and the coaching team of the club for their trust.

“I also want to thank the people of Aris for the messages they send me every day.

“I will work hard to look worthy of this trust and love for my face.

“I will give my best for Aris to succeed in its goals. We will say the rest on the field."

The Cyprus international had fallen down the pecking order for the Reds under Chris Hughton.

He made just five appearances in the Garibaldi, with his last one coming at Luton Town in October, when he was sent off in a 1-1 draw.

Since then, Yuri Ribeiro has cemented his place as first-choice left-back, while Forest also have Gaetan Bong on their books.

Boss Hughton has made it a priority to cut numbers during the January transfer window, also admitting right-back Tendayi Darikwa would be among those free to head elsewhere if an opportunity arises.
