Nottingham Forest defender Chema is reportedly close to completing a move to Spanish club Getafe.
The 27-year-old joined the Reds on transfer deadline day in the summer, but has been linked with a return to his homeland this month.
He was said to have caught the eye of Almeria earlier in the window, but reports in Spain claim he is now on the verge of joining Getafe.
Spanish newspaper Marca say Chema’s arrival is expected, while other reports suggest a deal has been agreed and he has passed his medical.
It was previously suggested the La Liga club would pay 1.5m euros for his services.
Chema has made 10 appearances for Sabri Lamouchi’s side this term, primarily being used at left-back.
Forest are, though, said to be working on a deal for Brighton’s Gaetan Bong, who also plays in that position - and that could be a sign Chema is set to depart the City Ground.
The Spaniard was left out of the Reds squad in Tuesday’s victory at Brentford, with head coach Lamouchi stating it was a tactical choice.
“Tactically, it was a little bit different. And my plan for the bench was also a different profile,” he said, of Chema and Joao Carvalho’s absence.
“It was just a tactical decision, that’s it, nothing else.”
