Nottingham Forest defender Jordan Gabriel wanted by Blackpool

Blackpool are hoping to land Nottingham Forest defender Jordan Gabriel on a season-long loan.

The League One side are eager to bolster their backline ahead of the new season and are turning their attentions to the highly-rated Reds prospect.

Right-back Gabriel, who started his career at Southend's academy, spent time on loan at Scunthorpe last term and played nine games for the Iron in League Two.

Forest have high hopes for the 21-year-old who made his Reds debut in a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal in the EFL Cup last season.

And with the Reds eager to continue his development, having trained with Sabri Lamouchi's side in pre-season, they are contemplating sending him out on loan again.

Neil Critchley would be an ideal fit for Gabriel given the Blackpool manager's  track record of producing young players having been in charge of Liverpool's under-23s before he took the job at Bloomfield Road.

Forest have not been averse to sending out their young talent to gain valuable experience having sent Jake Taylor to Port Vale last season.

He shone at Vale Park where he scored seven goals in 25 appearances and he is now being tipped to push for a place in the first team.
