Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall says Ibrox farewell ahead of City Ground return

Nottingham Forest loanee Joe Worrall bid farewell to Ibrox on a winning note as Rangers saw off bitter rivals Celtic.

It was a watching brief for the Reds defender as he was an unused substitute in the 2-0 home win for Steven Gerrard’s side at the weekend.

But Worrall got the chance to say goodbye to Gers fans as he took part in a lap of appreciation at the final whistle, following the team’s final home game of the campaign.

It was a second Old Firm victory of the season for Rangers, having toppled Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox back in December.

This time, a James Tavernier free-kick and a Scott Arfield strike clinched the three points, making it six wins in a row ahead of signing off for the summer at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

They have still finished runners-up to Celtic, after Neil Lennon’s men clinched the title last weekend, while Worrall has not featured since the beginning of April.

But the centre-back nevertheless showed his affection for his loan club.

He wrote on Twitter: “Great day to be a Rangers man.” And he posted a video of the walk-around the Ibrox pitch with the caption, “I Love Rangers”.

During his spell north of the border, the 22-year-old has made 31 appearances and scored one goal.

His loan deal is due to run out at the end of the Scottish Premier League campaign, when he will then return to the City Ground.
