Nottingham Forest defender Michael Dawson admits thoughts have turned to “the next chapter” of his career while he has been sidelined with injury.
But the 37-year-old is certain he still has plenty to offer Chris Hughton’s side in their bid to get their season back on track.
Even after almost two decades in the game, Dawson retains the same level of enthusiasm he did when he first pulled on the Garibaldi.
He is not, he concedes, the best of watchers, having been restricted to sitting in the City Ground stands due to a calf problem. And he has been itching to get back on the training pitch - something he was able to do last week.

Attracting interest
Former Nottingham Forest youngster Matthew Bondswell is said to be attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights ahead of the January transfer window.
Two years after he left the City Ground for RB Leipzig, the teenage defender has been linked with a return to English football.
Bondswell is currently on loan at Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht, but the Daily Telegraph claim Chelsea and West Ham United are among the clubs “monitoring his situation”.
The 18-year-old came through the ranks at the Nigel Doughty Academy, but he made the move to Germany before making a first-team breakthrough for the Reds.
Montanier's thoughts
Former boss Philippe Montanier has suggested it was a “mistake” for Oliver Burke to leave Nottingham Forest during his time in charge.
Nigel Doughty Academy product Burke attracted much interest after breaking into the Reds first-team in 2014.
He went on to make just 31 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring 18 goals, before being sold by then-owner Fawaz Al Hasawi to RB Leipzig for £13m in the summer of 2016.
Montanier had barely been at the helm a couple of months when the deal went through, and has been reflecting on the winger’s career since then.
Questions answered
Nottingham Forest have a big week ahead, as they look to bring an end to a three-match losing streak which has left them stuck at the wrong end of the Championship table.
Chris Hughton's side are in 21st place with 14 games played, two points above the relegation zone - and with much work to do.
Ahead of Wednesday's clash against Watford and Saturday's trip to Reading, Reds reporter Sarah Clapson held a live webchat, with supporters asking questions and leaving comments.
