Nottingham Forest dealt striker blow, Southampton chase Fulham star - latest Championship rumours

The January transfer window is now 16 days old with clubs currently embraced in the madness that a transfer window normally brings.

Sides around the Championship will no doubt be looking to strengthen their squads for the second half of the campaign, and clubs from around England’s second-tier are no different.

A host of clubs from division are all being linked with signing new players, with the 2020 January transfer window set to close on January 31.

WIth that in mind, we have taken a look at the latest rumours from around the Championship.

Forest suffer Gayle setback

Nottingham Forest could be set to bow out of the race to sign Dwight Gayle.

Sabri Lamouchi 's side has been heavily linked with a loan move for the forward  this month.

But the Daily Star is reporting that City Ground chiefs have hit a roadblock in negotiations with their St. James' Park counterparts.

Saints enter race for Bryan

Southampton have joined the race for Joe Bryan.

The former Bristol City man has spent the last 18 months at Fulham but is attracting interest in the January transfer window.

Watford have previously been linked with the left-back, but the Daily Mail is now reporting Southampton have now expressed an interest in the 26-year-old.

West Brom target Huddersfield forward

West Brom are considering a move for Huddersfield Town forward Karlan Grant this month.

Grant has scored 12 goals so far this season, having cost Town £2million when he arrived from Charlton last January.

BirminghamLive understands that Baggies boss Slaven Bilic is weighing up whether to make a move, as he looks bolster his attacking options for the second half of the season.

Fulham eye Rangers star

Fulham are targeting Rangers defender Connor Goldson this month.

Goldson has been one of the Gers’ standout stars in the Scottish Premiership since his move to the club in 2018.

A Fulham source has told Football Insider that the club are keeping close tabs on Goldson after his impressive displays in Scotland.
