Nottingham Forest dealt another potential injury blow as Reds ace sends rallying call

Injury blow

Nottingham Forest have been dealt a potential injury blow less than 24 hours before their Sky Bet Championship match against West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds are due to face the Baggies at The Hawthorns in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, with both clubs keen to claim all three points for their respective promotion ambitions.

With striker Lewis Grabban a doubt for the clash, sections of Forest fans called for Sabri Lamouchi to give January signing Nuno da Costa his first start since his arrival from Strasbourg.

The 29-year-old was included in the starting XI of the Reds under’23s clash against Crewe Alexandra on Friday afternoon, along with fellow first-team players John Bostock and Michael Hefele.

Baggies' verdict

West Bromwich Albion boss Slaven Bilic has been speaking about Nottingham Forest’s promotion credentials.

The two clubs are due to go head-to-head in the Sky Bet Championship clash at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds are currently in fifth place in the league standings, two points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

Albion are top of the table and have a six-point cushion over second-placed Leeds United.

Lolley's message

Joe Lolley has called on the Nottingham Forest fans to re-create the cauldron of noise made against Leeds United, to help their promotion push.

The City Ground was at its atmospheric best under the lights on Saturday as the Reds boosted their promotion charge with a 2-0 win against Leeds.

Forest couldn’t follow that up on Tuesday, suffering a defeat to Charlton Athletic, but have the chance to make another statement as they travel to play West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

The Reds are regularly backed in large numbers, and Lolley wants their support to be just as vociferous in the final 14 Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

New deal?

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to award a new contract to one of the club’s brightest prospects.

The Reds have agreed fresh terms with young defender Jordan Gabriel, according to a report in Football Insider.

The report adds that the 21-year-old has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground, which will run until the summer of 2022.

This news comes after first-team defender Joe Worrall put pen to paper on a new deal with the Reds on Thursday, which will see him remain on Trentside until 2024.
