Nottingham Forest confirm major transfer deal

Matty Cash has completed his move from Nottingham Forest to Aston Villa, the club have confirmed.

The right-back makes the switch to the Premier League outfit on a five-year deal which could be worth up to £16m for the Reds.

A £14m fee was agreed between the two clubs, but that could rise by another £2m with potential add-ons.

Cash has been in-demand this summer, with a number of sides chasing his signature. It meant Forest were always going to face a battle to hang on to him.

And it is Villa who have won the race for the 23-year-old, after initially seeing a number of bids turned down, the first one starting at £10m.

Sheffield United, too, had an offer rejected, while Fulham, West Ham United and AC Milan were also interested in the youngster.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product will leave the City Ground on the back of a fine season which saw him crowned the club’s Player of the Year.

It is understood he was keen to test himself in the top-flight and becomes Villa’s first signing of the summer.

He played a key role for the Reds last term, moving from a more advanced role to full-back under the guidance of Sabri Lamouchi.
