Nottingham Forest complete striker transfer in late deadline day deal

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of West Ham striker Xande Silva as the Reds made a late breakthrough in their bid to bolster their frontline.

The Portuguese attacker arrives on a permanent deal at the City Ground and will provide flexibility to Chris Hughton's options in the final third.

Silva, who has signed a two-year deal, can play as a striker or on the wing and has split from the Hammers having spent three years at the Premier League side.

The 24-year-old spent last season at Aris and scored four goals in 29 appearances for the Greek Super League side.

Silva had joined West Ham from Vitória Guimarães back in 2018 and made two appearances for the club which came in an FA Cup clash against Birmingham City and a Premier League clash against Burnley.

He will look to apply pressure on strikers Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor as the Reds look for a potent attacking force that can ignite what has been a poor start to the campaign.

His arrival came on a frantic day of action at the City Ground where the Reds saw incoming and outgoings as they made the final alterations to their squad for the last time until January.

Jordan Gabriel left the club to join Blackpool in a deal worth around £700,000 early in the day while the club also sent Harry Arter on loan to Charlton for the season.

Striker Nuno Da Costa departed for Ligue Two side Caen while the club also wrapped up deals for full-back Mohamed Drager and midfielder Braian Ojeda.
