Nottingham Forest youth coach Chris McGuane has explained why the club moved to snap up Hearts talent Boyd Fraser.
Fraser, 16, made the move to the City Ground after performing well for the Wee Jambos last season. He helped them win their first Scottish Youth Cup win in 26 years.
The talented midfielder will link-up with Forest's youth academy as a first year scholar and McGuane revealed his club had been monitoring closely during his time with club and country.
“It is fantastic that we have been able to bring Boyd to Nottingham Forest," he said. "He is a player we have thought of highly and monitored his journey closely both at Hearts and when he has captained Scotland in international fixtures.

"He possesses real quality in possession and is an exciting player that will join our Under-18 squad ahead of the new season.
"Credit goes to our Scotland scout John McKenna in identifying Boyd and supporting with his transition to Nottingham. We wish Boyd all the best with his journey at the club."
A club statement confirmed the news, adding: "Nottingham Forest Academy is delighted to confirm Boyd Fraser has joined the club as a first-year scholar, subject to international clearance.
"The Scotland Under-16 international joins from Hearts, where he helped the team win their first Scottish FA Youth Cup in 26 years in the 2025/26 season. The coveted midfielder now heads to Forest on a scholarship deal, with everyone at the club wishing him well for the year ahead."
Fraser is not the only young player to leave Tynecastle this summer.
Alfie Osborne is set for a move to Chelsea while Keir McMeekin is en route to Manchester City.
