Nottingham Forest 'closer than anyone' to landing West Brom midfielder

Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign Croatian playmaker Filip Krovinovic, according to reports in Greece.

The Benfica midfielder has been on loan at West Bromwich Albion for the last 18 months.

But the 25-year-old’s future has been questioned following the arrival of Sam Allardyce at The Hawthorns.

PAOK are also said to be interested in Krovinovic but Forest are in the driving seat, says Greek outlet To10.GR.

The report states: “Nottingham, however, seems to be the one that is currently closer than anyone, 'stealing' the Croatian from the hands of PAOK.”

Evangelos Marinakis-owned Olympiacos have also been linked with a move for Krovinovic, who played for NK Zagreb and Rio Ave earlier in his career.

Krovinovic has only featured once since Allardcyce was installed at The Hawthorns, coming off the bench in the 5-0 home defeat to Leeds United.

However, he could play a more prominent role in Saturday’s FA Cup third tie against Blackpool, with Allardyce indicating he will give fringe players a run-out at Bloomfield Road.
