Nottingham Forest 'close' to signing French youngster as Sabri Lamouchi hails winning spirit

THAT'S THE SPIRIT!

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi says a strong team spirit can be one of the “most important” factors for Nottingham Forest this season.

It is something the Frenchman has been keen to instil from the moment he took charge at the City Ground, back in June.

And it is paying dividends on the pitch, with the Reds joint-top of the Championship ahead of returning to action from the international break this weekend with a trip to Wigan Athletic.

“The most important thing for me is the spirit of the team,” Lamouchi said. “We are in the right way. But the season is so long.

ON THE ATTACK

Nottingham Forest are said to be closing in on a deal to sign 21-year-old attacking midfielder Ilyas El Khabchi, according to TEAMtalk.

The Frenchman, who was spotted by Reds scouts playing for French fifth tier side Jura Dolois, has been on trial with the club's under-23s and is said to have impressed his fellow countryman Sabri Lamouchi enough to earn a one-year deal on Trentside.

The report claims that City Ground bosses are looking to land the player's signature before he can be lured away for a trial elsewhere.

WONDERFUL WATSON

Ben Watson has always been a good player. I’ve always said I liked him. And I’m glad he’s really showing people what he can do for Nottingham Forest now, says Kenny Burns in his latest column.

He’s always had ability, it’s just that he’s not had the recognition before.

The Latics have kept hold of their popular boss Paul Cook, despite an approach from League One giants Sunderland.
