Nottingham Forest chief responds to Matty Cash goal tweet

A video clip of a young Matty Cash scoring a goal posted on Twitter prompted a response from Nottingham Forest Academy manager Gary Brazil.

Cash was shown netting an "absolute cracker" during his loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge back in 2016.

Another player who has since broken into the Reds' first-team, Joe Worrall, was also on loan with the Daggers at the same time.

The footage of Cash as an 18-year-old - posted by @DagRedGoals - was used by Brazil as an example of the importance of football club's use of the loan system, particularly with regard to their young players.

Both Matty and Joe Worrall benefitted enormously as players from their time at Dagenham under the tutelage of John Still," he tweeted.

"Highlights the importance of a loan strategy in the development of young players within Academies."

Cash, now 22, made 12 appearances for Dagenham, scoring three goals, but could not help the team avoid relegation from the Football League.

He has gone on to play 135 times for Forest to date, and been a key member of Sabri Lamouchi's promotion-chasing side this season.

Worrall made 15 appearances for Dagenham, scoring once. He spent last season on loan at Scottish club Rangers.

The defender has played 95 times for the Forest senior side - 39 of which have come this term.
