Nottingham Forest chasing former Sheffield United defender Kieron Freeman

Nottingham Forest want to bring Kieron Freeman back to the City Ground but must fend off two Championship rivals to do so.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are eager to re-sign the defender who started his career at the City Ground before leaving for Derby in 2012.

But they face stiff competition from Swansea City and Huddersfield with Freeman currently a free agent following his departure from Sheffield United.

The 28-year-old made just seven appearances for the Blades last season with just two coming in the Premier League.

But he is attracting plenty of interest and is an attractive proposition given he is available on a free transfer.

Freeman, who also spent three loans spells at Notts County, graduated through the ranks at Forest where he played just two games.

And after moving to Derby in 2012, he then switched to Sheffield United in 2015.

He played a pivotal role in the club's rise to the Premier League and in 2016/17 he was a regular start in the Blades team which won League One, scoring 10 goals along the way.

But he has was unable to dislodge George Baldock from the full-back position at Bramall Lane last term which restricted him to limited game time.

Despite that, he has no shortage of admirers in the Championship.
