Nottingham Forest boss' warning as Reds continue to wait for Kamil Grosicki decision

Boss' warning

Chris Hughton says it is on him to make sure Nottingham Forest do not slip up against Rotherham United.

The Reds have won just once this season but will be favourites to add three more points on Tuesday against a team who was promoted from League One last season.

That win for Forest came last time out against Blackburn Rovers, giving supporters some sudden optimism the team will turn the corner, ahead of the big game against Derby County on Friday night.

Forest have a track record of slipping up in the fixture following a win, especially against so called lesser teams - and Hughton says he must keep his players focussed.

Rooney ruled out

Derby County are set to be without Wayne Rooney for their clash with Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

The former England captain has returned a negative coronavirus test, but says he is “angry and disappointed” at having to miss the Rams' next few matches as he self-isolates.

That includes ruling him out of Chris Hughton's first East Midlands derby at the City Ground later this week.

Rooney was visited by a friend on Thursday, who later tested positive for coronavirus.

Pearce's verdict

Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce believes manager Chris Hughton will prove to be a “good” appointment for the club.

Hughton’s tenure got off to a winning start at the weekend, as his first game in charge ended with Blackburn Rovers beaten 1-0 thanks to Joe Lolley’s last-minute strike.

It saw Forest put their first points on the board at the fifth attempt this season, after a miserable run of results had cost Sabri Lamouchi his job.

Cryptic message

Kamil Grosicki has posted a cryptic message on social media, as Nottingham Forest wait to discover if a season-long loan deal has gone through.

The Reds believe the relevant paperwork was correctly submitted shortly before the 5pm transfer deadline on Friday, to clinch the signature of the West Bromwich Albion winger.

They are yet to receive official confirmation either way, although a decision could potentially be made clear today.
