Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names team to face Crystal Palace

Head coach Steve Cooper has named his Nottingham Forest team for today’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Reds go into the match at Selhurst Park safe in the knowledge their Premier League status is retained. Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal against Arsenal last weekend clinched survival with a game to spare.

It means Forest have avoided a nervy final day, going into their last fixture of the season pressure-free. However, they are still eager to sign off on a high note, particularly given their struggles on the road this term.

The injury woes which have dogged the Reds for much of the campaign have continued through to the end. Goalkeeper Keylor Navas suffered a groin problem against the Gunners and was ruled out earlier in the week, meaning he has likely made his final appearance for the club as he reaches the end of his loan from PSG.

Defender Felipe and midfielder Danilo also miss out on the match squad after being forced off at the City Ground. Wayne Hennessey, Willy Boly and Brennan Johnson step in as Cooper makes three changes to his starting XI.

Boly will line up alongside Joe Worrall and Moussa Niakhate in the back line, ahead of goalkeeper Hennessey. Serge Aurier and Renan Lodi keep their places at wing-back.

Ryan Yates and Orel Mangala will make up the midfield as Cooper tweaks his formation slightly, with Johnson joining Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White in attack. The bench will be made up of George Shelvey, Jesse Lingard, Harry Toffolo, Sam Surridge, Alex Mighten, Cheikhou Kouyate, Remo Freuler, Emmanuel Dennis and Andre Ayew.

Forest: Hennessey; Aurier, Worrall, Boly, Niakhate, Lodi; Yates, Mangala; Gibbs-White; Johnson, Awoniyi. Subs: G. Shelvey, Lingard, Toffolo, Surridge, Mighten, Kouyate, Freuler, Dennis, Ayew.
