Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names team to face Brentford - with double injury boost

Head coach Steve Cooper has named his Nottingham Forest team to face Brentford in this afternoon’s key Premier League clash.

The Reds go into the game looking to build on their midweek triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion. A Pascal Gross own goal, Danilo’s first for the club and Morgan Gibbs-White’s penalty clinched a fine 3-1 victory at the City Ground.

It was a result which ended an 11-match winless streak for Cooper’s side and saw them climb out of the bottom three. Ahead of kick-off in the capital they are one place and one point above the relegation zone.

Wednesday night came at a cost, however. Neco Williams was stretchered off with a broken jaw which has ended his season, while Moussa Niakhate was substituted due to a hamstring problem.

The latter gets the green light to start, however. Joe Worrall comes in for Williams as the only change to the XI.

It means Forest will keep the same formation, with Aurier moving to right wing-back and Renan Lodi keeping his place on the opposite flank. Worrall will come alongside Felipe and Niakhate to make up the back line ahead of goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Orel Mangala and Danilo retain their spots in midfield, being supported by Gibbs-White. Brennan Johnson and Taiwo Awoniyi make up the attack.

In a big boost for the run-in, there is a return on the bench for midfielder Ryan Yates, who has been absent for more than a month with a shoulder issue. Wayne Hennessey, Jesse Lingard, Harry Toffolo, Sam Surridge, Cheikhou Kouyate, Remo Freuler, Emmanuel Dennis and Andre Ayew complete the list of substitutes.

Forest: Navas; Aurier, Worrall, Felipe, Niakhate, Lodi; Mangala, Danilo, Gibbs-White; Johnson, Awoniyi. Subs: Hennessey, Lingard, Toffolo, Surridge, Kouyate, Yates, Freuler, Dennis, Ayew.
