Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names his team to face Middlesbrough

Boss Steve Cooper makes two changes to his Nottingham Forest starting line-up against Middlesbrough.

Amid a Boxing Day fixture list decimated by postponements, it is game on at the Riverside Stadium as the Reds aim to maintain their superb run of form.

Goals from Lewis Grabban and Brennan Johnson saw them beat Hull City 2-1 at the City Ground last time out.

That made it three wins in a row, as well as nine unbeaten - with Cooper’s men aiming for a perfect 10 against Boro.

They are in seventh spot ahead of kick-off in the north east, just one point below the Championship’s top six.

Cooper has been forced to reshuffle his defence for today’s clash, though, with Jordi Osei-Tutu facing a couple of months on the sidelines and Djed Spence ineligible to feature against his parent club.

It means teenager Fin Back has been brought into the XI for his first appearance since the Welshman took charge, having made his senior debut for the club earlier in the campaign.

There is also a return to the side for Tobias Figueiredo, along with a rare appearance in the matchday squad for Xande Silva as winger Alex Mighten is also ruled out through injury.

Forest are set to stick with a back three, with Figueiredo lining up alongside Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Back will take up the right wing-back spot, with Jack Colback likely to fill in on the left as Ryan Yates and James Garner make up the central midfield partnership.

Up front, Philip Zinckernagel and Johnson will once again provide support for striker Grabban.

In addition to Silva, Ethan Horvath, Joao Carvalho, Gaetan Bong, Cafu, Braian Ojeda and Lyle Taylor will be on the substitutes’ bench.

Forest: Samba; Worrall, Figueiredo, McKenna; Back, Garner, Yates, Colback; Zinckernagel, Grabban, Johnson. Subs: Horvath, Carvalho, Bong, Cafu, Silva, Ojeda, Taylor.
