Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names his team to face Man United

Head coach Steve Cooper has named his Nottingham Forest team to face Manchester United in this evening’s clash.

The Reds are at Old Trafford for their first Premier League game after the World Cup break. Prior to the season pausing, they had signed off with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

And they picked up from where they left off by seeing off Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup last week to make it three wins on the spin in all competitions. Tonight represents a much sterner test, however.

Cooper makes three changes to the side which triumphed at Ewood Park. He remains without Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been absent since being forced off in the friendly against Valencia, while Dean Henderson is ineligible to feature against his parent club.

Wayne Hennessey had been an injury doubt ahead of the fixture, along with Serge Aurier, but both make the starting XI. Aurier takes the place of Neco Williams at right-back, with Renan Lodi coming in for Harry Toffolo on the opposite flank. Joe Worrall and Willy Boly keep their places at centre-back.

Orel Mangala, Ryan Yates and Remo Freuler make up the midfield. Jesse Lingard starts against his former club, supporting Brennan Johnson and Taiwo Awoniyi in attack.

The substitutes’ bench is made up of Jordan Smith, Steve Cook, Williams, Jack Colback, Lewis O’Brien, Toffolo, Sam Surridge, Emmanuel Dennis and Scott McKenna.

Forest: Hennessey; Aurier, Worrall, Boly, Lodi; Freuler, Mangala, Yates, Lingard; Johnson, Awoniyi. Subs: Smith, Cook, Williams, Colback, O’Brien, Toffolo, Surridge, Dennis, McKenna.
