Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names his team to face Barnsley - with something of a surprise

New Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper makes one change to his starting XI as his team face Barnsley in a midweek Championship clash.

The Reds claimed a point in Cooper’s first match in charge, when they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Millwall on Saturday.

And they will be looking to notch what would be only their second league win of the season at Oakwell.

Striker Lewis Grabban was forced off in the first half of the weekend’s City Ground clash with a thigh injury.

He isn’t risked in the first-team, but is named among the substitutes against the Tykes.

Lyle Taylor came on to replace the forward against the Lions, but is again on the bench this time around, with Philip Zinckernagel coming into the XI instead.

Cooper looks set to stick with the 3-4-3 formation which Forest have deployed in their last two outings, making use of wing-backs to provide added attacking threat.

Brice Samba keeps his place between the posts, with Tobias Figueiredo, Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna making up the back line ahead of him.

Djed Spence and Max Lowe will be on the right and left wings respectively, with Ryan Yates and James Garner retaining their spots in the centre of the pitch.

Brennan Johnson looks set to lead the line in Grabban’s absence, being supported by Zinckernagel and Joe Lolley.

Along with Grabban and Taylor, Ethan Horvath, Jack Colback, Joao Carvalho, Gaetan Bong and Alex Mighten make up the list of substitutes.

Forest: Samba, Figueiredo, Worrall, McKenna, Spence, Yates, Garner, Lowe, Zinckernagel, Johnson, Lolley. Subs: Horvath, Grabban, Colback, Carvalho, Bong, Mighten, Taylor.
