Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton admits “the occasional surprise” departure can never be ruled out before the January transfer window closes.
The Reds are hoping to bring in further attacking reinforcements before Monday’s deadline, having already added Filip Krovinovic and extended Anthony Knockaert’s loan.
Hughton has also been keen to oversee some exits this month in a bid to trim his squad.
Tendayi Darikwa and Zach Clough have both gone to Wigan Athletic, while Nicholas Ioannou is on loan at Aris Thessaloniki.
Other players have been linked with moves away, with youngster Will Swan said to be the subject of interest from Ipswich Town.
Hughton has dismissed rumours of Samba Sow heading to Turkey as “just speculation”, though has previously said fellow midfielder Fouad Bachirou could head out on loan.
Asked if he expects to see any players make a move elsewhere in the next few days, ahead of Saturday’s clash with Barnsley he said: “The answer is, I don’t know.
“What will happen, not just here but at every club over the next couple of days, is there may be the occasional surprise - something that can happen which you didn’t think was going to. And then you’ve got to make a quick decision.
“Ideally, you finish the window with what you would like to come in, and the squad you would like.
“Sometimes you do have to make really tough decisions on the last day or in the last couple of days.”
