Nottingham Forest boss sets out transfer latest as winger 'refused' Reds move

Boss Chris Hughton would not be drawn on suggestions Nottingham Forest have expressed an interest in two players he has worked with in the past.

Reports claim Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling - who Hughton managed at Newcastle United - has turned down a permanent move to the Reds following talks.

Meanwhile, Forest are understood to be keen to sign striker Glenn Murray, who was also on the club’s radar last January.

The 37-year-old is currently on loan at Watford from Brighton and Hove Albion but has been struggling for game time - and a reunion with Hughton, from their time together on the south coast, could be on the cards.

Sow speculation

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton has dismissed reports linking midfielder Samba Sow with a move to Turkey.

The 31-year-old is out of contract with the Reds in the summer and earlier this week was said to be in talks with Erzurumspor about a January transfer.

Sow has played in Turkey before, for Karabukspor and Kayserispor, but has been a key player since switching to the City Ground from Dynamo Moscow in the summer of 2019.

Injuries have hampered him during his time Trentside, but after a spell on the sidelines earlier this term, he has become a regular under Hughton.

Owner cleared

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been cleared of match fixing charges in Greece, according to local media.

After a case which lasted almost six years, In.gr report Greek judges have cleared all 28 individuals accused of match fixing in the country’s football league - including Marinakis, who also owns Greek giants Olympiacos.

The shipping magnate and his co-defendants had been charged with match fixing over two games, as well as for “the attendant charge of joint criminal enterprise”.

But the judges’ ruling was said to have been unanimous and Marinakis was completely acquitted by the three-member Criminal Court of Appeal earlier today.

Grosicki latest

West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce says Kamil Grosicki has turned down a move to Nottingham Forest.

The Poland winger came within seconds of joining Forest at the end of the last transfer window, only for the deal to collapse.

Now Allardyce says Forest returned with a renewed approach for the 32-year-old, but he was not interested in coming to the City Ground even though he's free to leave the Premier League side.

“He could have gone to Nottingham Forest but he refused,” Allardyce said.
