Nottingham Forest boss sent transfer message as Reds aim to do January business

Nottingham Forest secured their first bit of January transfer business on Friday, when they extended the loan of winger Anthony Knockaert.

But it is up front where Reds fans believe Chris Hughton’s side particularly need strengthening.

The Forest boss is planning only minimal changes to his squad during the winter window, although incomings are expected - as well as further outgoings, following the departure of full-back Nicholas Ioannou.

The Reds have struggled for goals this term, though, and it seems supporters see this month as a chance to fix that problem and get the team climbing the Championship table.

We asked fans what they would like to see happen in January and what position they felt most needed reinforcing.

More than half (52 percent) of those who responded said they believe Hughton should strengthen his forward ranks.

Currently, Lewis Grabban, Lyle Taylor and Miguel Angel Guerrero are the front men on the books at the City Ground, with youngster Will Swan also involved with the first-team.

Midfield was also a popular choice for new additions, with 33 percent of voters identifying that area of the pitch as most in need of bolstering.

And fifteen percent would like to see a winger added - with West Bromwich Albion's Kamil Grosicki a target after a move Trentside fell through in the summer window.

The majority of supporters agree with Hughton’s plans to make only a few new additions.

Forty-three percent of those polled said only one or two recruits are needed, while 31 percent said they would like to see three or four brought in.

Nineteen percent believe the Reds should be targeting four or more signings, with just seven percent saying no additions are required.
