Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi reveals 'some slight' injury doubts for Barnsley clash

Nottingham Forest hope right-back Matty Cash will be fit to take on Barnsley at the weekend, as Sabri Lamouchi’s side look to secure a play-off spot.

But midfielders Joe Lolley and Samba Sow are “slight doubts” for the Oakwell clash, having both also had injury problems recently.

Cash has missed the last two games with a groin strain, while Lolley was absent for the draw at Preston North End suffering from shin splints, though came off the bench in Wednesday night’s 2-2 stalemate against Swansea City.

Sow made his return at the start of this month after being sidelined with a knee problem, but Lamouchi is keen not to take too many risks in the crunch period of the season.

“We need to see if he will be with us for training this afternoon - I think so,” he said of Cash.

“We have today and tomorrow, so we will see. I hope so.

“We just have players with some slight doubt, so nothing serious, I hope - Lolley, Samba Sow - nothing new.”

The Reds’ top six finish could already be secured before a ball is kicked on Sunday, should Millwall and Swansea City fail to win their fixtures 24 hours earlier.

If not, a point may be enough for Lamouchi’s side against the relegation-threatened Tykes - although the manager has made it clear they will make the trip aiming to win regardless.

Asked if his team selection could be affected by results elsewhere on Saturday, Lamouchi said: “Honestly, I don’t know the team right now because we have some doubts.

“We have training today, training tomorrow and we will travel on Sunday to Barnsley.

“At this moment - at the end of the season, after a three-month stoppage and a lot of games in a short space of time - we have some doubts.

“I need to put the best team out, with who is 100 percent. That is really important, because it will be a big fight there.

“Barnsley run, they fight, they are strong, they play well and they have quality. They are a good team.

“We need to go there with confidence, but also with determination, because it is a really important game for us.”
