Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi provides injury update ahead of Stoke City clash

Striker Rafa Mir could be in contention to make the Nottingham Forest squad which travels to Stoke City tomorrow night.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee has missed the last three games with a leg injury, but could be back among the substitutes against the Potters.

Lewis Grabban has been the only out-and-out front man available to head coach Sabri Lamouchi since the Reds returned from the last international break.

Mir has been back-up to Grabban since his arrival at the City Ground, but his return would give Lamouchi an option from the bench as his side have the chance to go top of the table with a win at the bet365 Stadium.

“Maybe Mir will be back,” the Frenchman said. “He is much better than before.

“We don’t have much more news about injured players because we played on Tuesday (against Arsenal). Maybe there will be more for next Tuesday (against Blackburn Rovers), we hope.”

Midfielders John Bostock and Alfa Semedo were absent from the Carabao Cup clash at the Emirates Stadium, after picking up knocks in training during the build-up.

Both are doubtful for tomorrow night’s match.

“On Wednesday they were with the medical department,” Lamouchi said.

“We had our last training session today and we travel to Stoke tomorrow, so they will probably not be in the group.”

The Forest boss made six changes to his first XI against the Gunners, including pairing Chema and Tobias Figueiredo in the heart of the defence and starting teenage Brennan Johnson in midfield.

Fellow Nigel Doughty Academy products Jordan Gabriel and Alex Mighten also got runouts in the 5-0 defeat to the Premier League side.

Asked if any of those involved in the capital caught his eye, Lamouchi said: “Probably because I don’t have many options.”

He added: “We are playing a lot, but I know the players prefer to play.

“We must be very careful about the whole situation - physically, of course. But they are young and they are ready mentally and physically to play a few games in a week.”
