Nottingham Forest star a doubt for Cardiff City clash

Midfielder Samba Sow is a doubt for Nottingham Forest's trip to Cardiff City on Tuesday night, after suffering a recurrence of a knee problem.

The summer signing was left out of the squad which drew 0-0 with QPR at the City Ground, having also missed the previous home game - a 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Tiago Silva took on a deeper role against Rangers in Sow’s absence, before being pushed forward in the second half as Ryan Yates entered the fray.

But it proved to be a frustrating afternoon for the hosts as they went a third game without a win, having failed to find a way through on the banks of the Trent.

And head coach Sabri Lamouchi could be without Sow again for the midweek visit to Wales.

“I don’t know if he can be involved in the next game against Cardiff,” Lamouchi said.

“It is a serious injury.

“But I don’t think we missed Samba today, because we created chances and we played well.

“But of course he is an important player for us.

“It is day by day and game by game (managing Sow’s injury).

“But I don’t think I am the only manager with that problem in the Championship.

“All managers are looking at their squad and how they are physically because some players are tired and some players have pain or injuries.

“We need to be smart and clever, and do the right things at the right time.”
