Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi on Millwall defeat, Joao Carvalho and 'a bad moment'

Three first half goals proved the difference as Nottingham Forest were well beaten by Millwall at the City Ground.

A disappointing display from Sabri Lamouchi’s men meant they missed the chance to put pressure on the top two as they fell to a sixth home defeat of the season.

Here’s what the Reds head coach had to say post-match.

How are you feeling after that?

“It is a bad feeling.

“It is disappointing because the expectation was different.

“We gave them the possibility to kill us. They killed us.

“Congratulations to Millwall, they executed their plan - to wait and play on the counterattack. Physically it was a big impact from them and we suffered a lot.

“It’s a bad moment for us. We showed our limit probably physically.

“When you are a little bit down physically, mentally you need to play more simple.

“It was the wrong performance and a bad result."

Is it particularly disappointing after you were upset with the performance on Monday at Middlesbrough?

“It is a bad moment.

“We need to refresh and think a little bit about that, then we need to come back in training and find the solution for the next one.

“We have done a good job until now. We have missed many opportunities, through some details and sometimes by our fault.

“If we have someone a little bit down, we need to play all together because together we are stronger.

“Tonight, also in a good moment, we were not dangerous.

“The quality of Millwall was clear. Physically they were much better than us. They had a better dynamic, better determination and their mentality was more aggressive.

“In this situation, it is bad.”

Is it worrying to have two bad performances in a row at this stage of the season?

“I don’t know. We will see after the next one.

“After eight months, maybe some players are a little bit tired, so we need to think about that.

“We are missing some players, but the group needs to be more clever and play more like we know.”

You gave Joao Carvalho his first start for a while - why now?

“Why now? Because Tiago Silva was not here.

“Joao played a decent performance. He is not our Messi, but he has the quality to help us.

“It was a decent performance.

“He will play the next one because we need a technical leader.

“Step by step, because he hasn’t played a lot, he will get better and better.”
