Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi and Reds board take significant pay cuts

Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi, his coaching staff and the club’s board have taken significant pay cuts amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Championship season was suspended last month and it is unclear when football will be able to return - with games currently on hold indefinitely.

It has led to a squeeze on the finances of football clubs up and down the country, with matches unlikely to resume any time soon and likely to be played behind closed doors when they do.

To assist the club, Lamouchi, his staff and the board, made up of chairman Nicholas Randall, chief executive officer Ioannis Vrentzos and director Jonny Owen, are understood to have accepted significant pay cuts - as opposed to wage deferrals.

As previously reported, a number of non-playing staff have been placed on the government’s furlough scheme.

The campaign came to a halt with the Reds sat fifth in the second tier table with nine games remaining.

And on the back of an impressive first year in English football, talks are ongoing between Lamouchi and Forest over a new long-term contract.

The Frenchman’s current deal is due to expire in June after he initially signed up for a year when he replaced Martin O’Neill at the helm.
