Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi is reportedly a “candidate” for the vacant managerial post at Watford.
The Frenchman’s future at the City Ground is in the spotlight after the Reds collapsed at the final hurdle in their bid for the play-offs.
And according to the Evening Standard, Lamouchi is a potential option for the Hornets job.
The Premier League outfit sacked Nigel Pearson last weekend, with their battle for top-flight survival going down to the wire.
Watford are in the relegation zone going into the final round of fixtures. They make the trip to Arsenal knowing they must better Aston Villa’s result against West Ham to stay up.
The report says the club “will accelerate their efforts to hire a new head coach” once they know which division they will be in next season.
The Standard say: “Former Leicester manager Claude Puel, in charge of Saint-Etienne, is the early favourite to take over.
“Other candidates include former Valencia boss Marcelino, Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic and Nottingham Forest’s Sabri Lamouchi.
“Sam Allardyce, who admitted in December he would be open to talks with Watford, has been linked again but there are doubts over whether he would fit into the club’s structure.”
It is said the uncertainty over Watford’s fate has “delayed” any hope of a swift appointment.
