Nottingham Forest boss provides Tiago Silva update amid speculation about midfielder's future

Midfielder Tiago Silva has been ruled out of Nottingham Forest’s clash with Bristol City this weekend, as speculation about his future intensifies.

The Portuguese has not featured so far this season due to being sidelined with an ankle injury.

He is said to be close to a move to fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos, as part of a swap deal which would see defensive midfielder Cafu head to the City Ground.

Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi said he was not aware of any players being close to securing moves elsewhere, when asked by NottinghamshireLive ahead of this weekend’s fixture.

“I don’t know if any are close to leaving, the club are working on that,” he said.

However, he did state Silva would not be involved against the Robins - despite joining in training - as Forest go in search of their first points of the season at the City Ground.

“Today we finished with all (fit) players available,” said the Reds manager, who will still be without Joe Worrall and Fouad Bachirou due to injury.

“Tiago Silva started the warm-up with us, but he will not be available for this game.

“He is much better but he is not available.”

The Reds have suffered four defeats in all competitions in their four games so far this term.

And they will come up against a visiting side topping the Championship table with three wins from three.
