Nottingham Forest boss has his say on Yuri Ribeiro red card against Middlesbrough

Chris Hughton has urged Nottingham Forest to keep cool heads after left-back Yuri Ribeiro was needlessly sent off in stoppage time against Middlesbrough.

The defender was shown a straight red card for an altercation by the corner flag as Boro looked to see out their 2-1 victory at the City Ground.

It compounded a frustrating night for Forest, who saw their seven-game unbeaten run halted by Neil Warnock’s side as goals from ex-Reds forward Britt Assombalonga and George Saville sealed the points.

While Hughton conceded he had not seen Riberio’s dismissal, he felt there was little to argue with over the decision, with striker Lyle Taylor also booked for dissent after coming on as a half-time substitute.

And the Forest boss says his players have to keep their tempers in check while they are striving to climb away from the Championship’s bottom three.

“I must admit that I haven’t seen it (Ribeiro’s red) and I haven’t spoken to the referee,” he said.

“But my gut feeling is that I don’t have any complaints.

“For where we are, what we have got to do is make sure we keep our discipline.

“When Lyle Taylor gets booked (dissent) there’s no need for it at that moment in time.

“For Yuri, when we are pushing to get back into the game when anything can happen, then you can’t allow your frustration to get the better of you.”
