Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton's response to Joe Worrall transfer link

Boss Chris Hughton would not be drawn on speculation linking Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall with a January move to Burnley.

Nigel Doughty Academy product Worrall has been on the Clarets’ radar for some time, including during the summer.

He signed a new contract with the Reds in February which ties him to the City Ground until 2024, and recently made his return to the side following a foot injury.

But ahead of next month’s transfer window, Burnley are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in the centre-back.

“I’ve just had a wry smile now, because it’s the very first I’ve heard of it,” Hughton said.

“Joe has just been back for two games.

“You get used to it. For any type of speculation, you get used to it.

“What I’ve learned over the years is a very large majority of speculation is exactly that.

“He’s a very talented young footballer.

“What I have found at this football club is that it is a club which wants to produce young players.

“We’ve got a very good academy, which is looking to get bigger and stronger.

“As many good young players we can bring through and keep in the side, the better.”
