Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton reveals all on Joe Worrall injury

Joe Worrall looks set to be sidelined until after the international break after the Nottingham Forest defender suffered a cracked rib.

Reds boss Chris Hughton confirmed the centre-back sustained the injury in the defeat to Luton Town and remarkably went on to play the whole 90 minutes at Watford just days later.

Worrall, who missed the 1-1 draw at home to Reading, had not complained of being in any pain, but was sent for a scan which revealed the full extent of the injury.

He will now be out of action for the next two weeks at least, although Scott McKenna is now available again and produced a fine performance against the Royals.

Forest boss Hughton said: "It's a testament to Joe's character, his willingness to want to play and his toughness.

"He's got a cracked rib which will keep him out for a few weeks.

"We're hoping that once the international break is finished that he will be available. But it's something that he felt was not a problem.

"And it's only when we got it scanned that it showed up.

"That's disappointing, but obviously it was good to have Scott back.

"Joe actually did it in the Luton game, but he trained afterwards, no problems. He finished the game no problem. Sometimes these things can happen. And what you're relying on is a player indicating that he's in pain, but that wasn't the case with Joe.

"He is a tough individual anyway.

"It was right for him to play in the last game of Watford because the injury wasn't one that stopped him from playing or one that he was feeling."
