Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton names his team to face Northampton Town

Joe Worrall and Lewis Grabban are named in the starting XI as Nottingham Forest continue their build-up to the new season with a friendly at Northampton Town.

The Reds will be aiming to make it three wins from three at Sixfields Stadium, having already beaten Alfreton Town and Port Vale.

And Chris Hughton’s team has more of an experienced look about it as more players are given the opportunity to get minutes under their belts against the Cobblers.

Jordan Smith starts in goal, having also done so at Vale Park on Saturday, helping the visitors to a comfortable 2-0 win.

Jordan Gabriel and Jayden Richardson also keep their places at right and left-back respectively, while Worrall makes his first appearance of pre-season, alongside Scott McKenna in the heart of the defence.

Ryan Yates retains his spot in midfield from the weekend, with Cafu set to drop into a deeper role, having been in a more advanced position against Vale.

Joao Carvalho and Alex Mighten also keep their spots in the starting line-up, with Joe Lolley making up the attacking trio to support lone striker Grabban.

A number of younger players have been included on the bench, which is made up of Loic Mbe Soh, Nuno Da Costa, Lyle Taylor, Baba Fernandes, Tyrese Fornah, Ateef Konate, Fin Back and Jordan Wright.

It means no debut for new signing Ethan Horvath, who has again not been included in the matchday squad.

Forest: Smith; Gabriel, Worrall, McKenna, Richardson; Yates, Cafu; Lolley, Carvalho, Mighten; Grabban. Subs: Mbe Soh, Da Costa, Taylor, Fernandes, Fornah, Konate, Back Wright.
