Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton names his team to face Cardiff City

New signings Djed Spence and Max Lowe have been handed their debuts as Nottingham Forest return to action after the international break.

The Reds claimed their first point of the season last time out, thanks to Brennan Johnson’s equaliser against arch-rivals Derby County.

But they remain stuck at the bottom of the Championship table ahead of this afternoon’s clash with Cardiff City.

Boss Chris Hughton makes three changes to the side which drew 1-1 with the Rams, with Forest having taken their total number of summer signings up to 10 since then.

Braian Ojeda and Mohamed Drager are unavailable, completing 10 days of self-isolation after travelling to red list countries while on international duty.

Meanwhile, Spence replaces Jordan Gabriel, who left for Blackpool on deadline day, at right-back, and Lowe steps in for Gaetan Bong on the left.

Joe Worrall makes his second appearance of the campaign, having returned from injury at Pride Park, alongside Scott McKenna in the heart of the defence, ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Ryan Yates and James Garner keep their places in central midfield, but there looks to be a possible change in formation to potentially a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

Philip Zinckernagel and Brennan Johnson also retain their spots, but Lewis Grabban comes in for Joao Carvalho, to partner Lyle Taylor up top.

Joe Lolley returns to the matchday squad after illness, joining Ethan Horvath, Tobias Figueiredo, Loic Mbe Soh, Jack Colback, Carvalho and Alex Mighten on the bench.

Forest: Samba, Spence, Worrall, McKenna, Lowe, Garner, Yates, Zinckernagel, Johnson, Grabban, Taylor. Subs: Horvath, Figueiredo, Mbe Soh, Colback, Carvalho, Lolley, Mighten.
