Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton explains City Ground dugout switch

Chris Hughton says he was keen to return to the traditional home dugout at the City Ground, as Nottingham Forest manager.

Predecessor Sabri Lamouchi had opted to switch the benches around, going from being positioned closer to the Trent End to being nearer the Bridgford Stand.

The Frenchman reasoned he wanted to be closer to his back line as they looked to see games out, as the Reds generally defend at that end in the second half of matches.

But Hughton has reverted to the original set-up, taking his seat closer to the tunnel, as he looks to make his mark on the club.

“It was a decision from myself,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

“It’s nothing to do with any other manager or management.

“It’s just, when you’re starting from fresh and starting from scratch, I would want the dugout which I regard as the traditional dugout.

“But there would be lots of managers and lots of clubs who change, for whatever reason.

“But if I’ve got a choice, from a starting position, which I have, then I would rather go traditional.”

Forest have two home fixtures this week, as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

Coventry City are the visitors on Wednesday, followed by Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.
