Nottingham Forest boss answers questions about Anthony Knockaert transfer situation

Boss Chris Hughton says Anthony Knockaert is in “his thoughts” when it comes to Nottingham Forest’s January transfer business.

The Fulham winger’s loan spell at the City Ground runs out next month, although the Reds do have an option to buy.

The deal is believed to expire on January 7, which would make Saturday’s trip to Preston North End potentially his last game.

Knockaert has not quite been able to make the impact Forest would have hoped since his summer move, although he has shown glimpses of his undoubted ability.

He has made 14 appearances, with six of those coming from off the bench, and has scored one goal.

And it gives Hughton a decision to make about whether to extend the 29-year-old’s stay - either by making his switch permanent or possibly seeing if his loan could continue until the summer.

“Anthony comes into our thoughts, as other players might do,” the Reds manager said.

“We’ve had a good relationship with him and we’ve had a good relationship with Fulham.

“He’s another one who comes into our thoughts.”

Knockaert was the only one of Forest’s 14 summer signings to have been signed by Hughton, with the other arrivals coming while Sabri Lamouchi was still in charge.
