Nottingham Forest boss and three Championship rivals vying for prestigious honour

Sabri Lamouchi has been nominated for September’s Manager of the Month award.

The Nottingham Forest head coach has claimed nine points from a possible nine in the second month of the season, securing impressive wins at promotion challengers Swansea City, Stoke City and a 1-0 success against Barnsley at the City Ground sandwiched in between, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Forest’s 3-2 win at Stoke in front of the television cameras at the end of the month sent them top of the Championship for the first time in five years, courtesy of goals from Joe Lolley, Sammy Ameobi and Lewis Grabban.

Should Lamouchi receive the Championship crown, he would be the first Forest boss to do so since Billy Davies in March 2013 – and only the second different to do so, aside of the Scotsman.

“Has made Forest hard to beat,” the Football League said when announcing their nominees.

“Two more clean sheets set the foundations for 1-0 wins over Swansea and Barnsley, while the resilience he has instilled was shown in the 3-2 win at Stoke, adding up to a perfect nine points from nine.”

Lamouchi is up against West Brom’s Slaven Bilic, Garry Monk at Sheffield Wednesday and Preston’s Alex Neil, though the Frenchman is the only one of the four to claim maximum points in September.

The winners will be announced on Friday morning, having been picked by ex-Owls boss Danny Wilson, Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Ivor Davies from Sky Bet.
