Nottingham Forest attacking target 'well on his way' to securing transfer

Nottingham Forest and Fortuna Sittard are said to still be in disagreement over the value of attacking midfielder Zian Flemming.

The Reds are understood to have made more than one bid for the 22-year-old, but reaching a compromise with his club appears to be proving difficult.

Flemming is generally estimated to be worth about £1.5m, but Fortuna are believed to be asking for a few million more than that, as they hold firm.

So far, Forest’s attempts to sign him have seemingly hit a brick wall, with reports in the Netherlands suggesting they were even prepared to include some players in any deal.

Flemming is said to be keen on a move to the City Ground, although has admitted “a very high transfer fee” has been placed on his head - “too high” was his verdict recently.

Dutch website Voetbal Primeur report the attacker “seems to be well on his way to the exit”. However, they add Forest are “not yet ready to meet Fortuna’s asking price”.

The young Dutchman is a valuable player for his club, and they are keen to hold out for the best deal possible.

In his breakthrough season, Flemming caught the eye with 12 goals and seven assists from 33 league appearances in the Eredivisie.

He is under contract until 2024, after joining Fortuna from PEC Zwolle last summer.

Reds boss Chris Hughton is eager to add more attacking threat to his squad as they target a top six place, having struggled to find the back of the net last term.

On whether any additions were close, Hughton said after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Crewe Alexandra: “I would like to be able to tell you something is close, but, as normal, I wouldn’t say anything until any deals are done - and, at this moment, they haven’t been.”
