Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Benfica starlet Jota.
Reports in the Portuguese press say Forest have already made their interest known to Benfica.
Record, via Sport Witness, claim Jota's preference is a move to these shores with Olympiacos - also owned by Evangelos Marinakis - also said to be interested in the 21-year-old.
Benfica would only be willing to let Jota move on loan given that they rate him highly, signing the midfielder up to a new deal at the start of the year with a bumped-up release clause.
Jota, like any other player, would prefer a move to the Premier League but a Championship move would also appeal.
Forest are at the top of the list with Olympiacos reportedly a back-up option for Jota.
Sabri Lamouchi's side could yet be playing top flight football next season if they go up through the play-offs once the season restarts after the coronavirus suspension.
The Reds have also been linked with Nimes midfielder Theo Valls today, with the 24-year-old out of contract at the end of the season.
Forest have had success with relatively unknown foreign imports this season, with Brice Samba, Tiago Silva, Yuri Ribeiro and Samba Sow impressing this season.
Jota has only managed 11 matches in the League this season, starting once.
He is a graduate of Benfica's academy.
