Nottingham Forest asks fans for 47th minute applause in tribute to 'true Red' who died of cancer

Nottingham Forest are urging fans to honour a lifelong Reds fan who recently lost his battle with cancer.

The club want supporters to start applauding during the 47th minute of Forest's game on Sunday, January 17 against Luton at the City Ground for dad Andrew Pick.

Born and bred in East Leake, he was diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer, that spread to other areas of his body, in January 2018.

Mr Pick, who worked as a self-employed painter and decorator, died at home on January 8 at the age of 47.

A tweet from Forest about honouring the lifelong fan with a minute's applause said: "Remembering a true Red.

"Supporters are encouraged to join in with a minute’s applause for Andrew Pick in the 47th minute of Sunday’s match, after he sadly lost his battle with cancer last week aged just 47.

"RIP Picky."

Forest's game against Luton kicks off at 12pm on Sunday.

Andrew's fiancée, Laura Belshaw, paid tribute to the "devoted" father - and called on supporters to "remember a true legend" by following the hearse to his funeral wearing Reds shirts.

Mr Pick, who leaves behind two children and two stepchildren, was a passionate Reds fan and he and his partner had talked about the idea of one day marrying at the City Ground.

His funeral will take place later this month.

The idea is that supporters will march to the funeral, which is due to take place at St Mary's Church, off Main Street, East Leake, on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 29.

An online fundraising page has been set up towards the cost of the funeral.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend and more than £3,000 has been pledged towards the service.
